The Regency Bar & Lounge at the Terra Nova All Suite Hotel is now the hottest spot in Kingston Jamaica and we noticed this happened since the Terra Nova bought in their Irish Charm.
Thomas Masterson was head hunted from his home town Dublin, Ireland of has been in Jamaica for 10 months. We caught up with this charming Irish man to find out a little bit more about him.
OAJ: How was it picking up yourself and moving from Ireland to Jamaica, was you nervous?
TM: Well no I had no expectations, no concepts of Jamaica. I wasn’t nervous at all coming to a new country.
OAJ: How long have you been in the industry?
TM: I have been working in the food and beverage industry for 16 years in Ireland and England.
OAJ: You can clearly see the change that you and your team have done at the Regency Bar & Lounge, we think it is for the best.
TM: Thank you, its very rewarding seeing were we was coming from to now … expect bigger things to come.
OAJ: How is your Jamaican Patios?
TM: Lol! I am still learning my best sayings are “My Yute” “Mi Deh Yah” and of course “Wha Gwan”.
OAJ: What kind of Caribbean music are you into?
TM: I love soca, I have been to Trinidad carnival already and I am going next year. I really love 80, 90’s Reggae and Dancehall some of my favourites are Red Dragon, Aswad, and Shaggy.
OAJ: Friday nights at the Regency are crazy!!! Tell us about that.
TM: Yes Friday is our best night, our numbers have doubled we are at over 1000 patrons now each Friday and the numbers are growing each week. Sometimes we have to turn people away.
OAJ: What’s your best selling cocktails?
TM: That’s got to be our classic Mojito and we introduced what your drinking now the Irish Honey a few months ago.
OAJ: The Terra Nova is best known for having the best tasting food at a hotel in Kingston. What are your best dishes that your patron’s love?
TM: That has to be the Lobster Mac & Cheese and our Quesadilla’s
OAJ: We have to agree with you on that the lobster mac & cheese is the best we have every had.
Outside of managing The Regency Bar & Lounge Thomas has also dabbled in a bit of acting. Next year you can see Thomas in Nick Cannon’s King of the Dancehall Movie and watch him now in Tessanne Chin’s Fire music video.
