Supermodel Naomi Campbell Shoots Own Essence cover, stretches to Grace Jones

British supermodel Naomi Campbell recently posted the cover to the 50th anniversary issue of Essence, which bears her image. Just a regular day in the life of the ageless figure of beauty, right?

No, not this time round.

This shoot is a bit more special than any of Campbell‘s numerous previous covers. Why? Because, the ‘daughter of Jamrock’ was charged with styling and shooting it, all by herself.

“It was a very special honor and unusual experience for me to be able to shoot and style my own cover for Essence’ 50th Anniversary Issue. While it was a sad reminder for me of all the people in media and production who are not able to work due to the coronavirus,” Campbell caption the Twitter post.

The novel coronavirus has caused endless disruptions across the world, forcing changes and effecting innovative fixes across all industries, major or minor. Essence and Campbell embraced the challenge and, in the process, have, effectively, scribbled their names into the annals of fashion.

Several hours after posting the historic cover, Campbell went live on Instagram, for what appears to be a routine workout session, with Joe “Ocho System” Holder.

The beauty wriggled and stretched in a sunlit parlour observing the remote directives of the acclaimed trainer.

The supermodel’s soundtrack of choice, for the duo’s session, was the iconic Private Life: The Compass Point Sessions anthology from Jamaican-born singer, actress, model, and living legend, the incomparable Grace Jones.

During the live, Campbell could be heard educating Holder of the brilliance of Jones on the timeless double-disc, which was released in 1998.

Several hundred viewers logged in to witness the workout.
