Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records and Island Outpost, celebrates the best of Jamaica’s food, music and culture with the first NyamJam Festival November 13-14th on property at GoldenEye in Oracabessa Bay. The name is derived from the local Patois to eat, which is nyam.
Festival co-founder Reyna Mastrosimone of Jane Street Productions has paired chefs Mario Batali, April Bloomfield, Jose Enrique, Seamus Mullen and Johnny Iuzzini with local culinary stars like chefs Colin Hylton, Gariel Ferguson and many more widely celebrated purveyors, foodstuffs, farms and push carts. NyamJam is a celebration of Jamaica’s richly adapted culinary culture, heady island jams and irie spirit with something on offer for both Jamaicans on the rock and travelers.
The weekend’s events range from a buzzing daytime Culinary & Music Bazaar complete with street food stalls, chef demonstrations and musical performances, to elegantly relaxed multi-course dinners by celebrated chefs with star performances from Grammy award-winning Angelique Kidjo, Jamaican jazz guitarist Ernest Ranglin and more to be announced.
