OAJ’s Guest Blogger for our Art features Paul Morrison wants you to check out this exhibition for the summer if you are in Jamaica.

The National Gallery of Jamaica will be hosting its next exhibition, called New Roots.

New Roots features the works of 10 emerging artists including Deborah Anzinger, Varun Baker, Camille Chedda, Gisele Gardner, The Girl and the Magpie, Matthew McCarthy, Olivia McGilchrist, Astro Saulter, Nile Saulter, and Ikem Smith.

The opening ceremony will commence at July 28th, at 1pm as a part of the last Sunday’s programme and will feature a performance by Kat CHR.

This exhibition which runs until September 30th, 2013, will be a fresh approach to the Jamaican art scene as it will feature both works in conventional and new media.  I’m looking forward to seeing if the Gallery will allow these brash, yet talented, artists to flex their respective muscles.
