Music News: I’m Outraged Says Courtney John

Yesterday reggae singer songwriter Courtney John took to his twitter account to speak out about the violence that has been happening to women in Jamaica for the past few months.

“THE MEN IN THIS SOCIETY HAVE LOST THE PLOT. THE RAPING OF THE 8 WOMEN IN ST JAMES IS THE PROOF OF WHAT THESE MEN ARE. HEARTLESS”.

THE SAD THING IS THAT YOU WILL ONLY HEAR ABOUT THIS FOR A FEW DAYS. THEN EVERYONE WILL GO BACK TO THEIR LITTLE WORLD. SAD”

The Woman’s Inc which Courtney John has been supporting the charity for 4 years now is calling Jamaicans to wear Black on Friday September 28, in a show of support to express outrage and condemnation of the continued attacks on women.

This follows Monday’s gruesome rape of five females including an 8-year-old in Irwin, St. James. The Woman Inc. Initiative, is being supported by the Government and Opposition which encourages all well-thinking and progressive members of the public to wear black on Friday, and at 10AM, stand at public places across Jamaica, including Half Way Tree Clock Tower in this protest action. According to a release by the Office of the Prime Minister, persons who will not be able to attend the protest in Half-Way-Tree, can still participate in the protest by observing two minutes of silence at 10:00AM in their workplaces and in their homes.

Courtney John is urging all is friends and men and women of influence in Jamaican Society to come out on Friday @ 10am to support this cause.

“Women are like precious treasures and it’s our job as men to protect them and keep them safe” said John.
